Kansai Gaidai University, in cooperation with MGM Japan, announced on 22 February the “KGU x MGM Education Program” course, to be held online, for students studying hospitality management and integrated resort (IR) services.
The course will run for six days between 2 and 10 March, following on from the last course in February 2020 which saw students visit MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas to tour the facilities and interact with employees working in the field. This year’s course will be online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to lectures on the use of human resources, environmentally friendly ventures and large-scale business events, students will also learn about MGM’s efforts to work through COVID-19. The goal is to provide a deep understanding of management know-how in international service operations and the hospitality industry by exchanging opinions online with MGM Resorts employees from around the world.
There are 22 participating students from the Service and Hospitality Industry Leader Development Program, established in Autumn 2018 to develop human resources to be involved in future management in the hospitality industry in Japan and overseas. It requires students to acquire proficiency in English, plus the knowledge and skills to work overseas by taking business-related subjects such as marketing and accounting. Students are also offered a one-year study abroad opportunity at an English-speaking university, as well as internships within Japan.
