The Deputy Director of Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination, Leong Man Ion, will step down from the role as of today.
According to a dispatch published in the government’s Official Gazette on Wednesday, Leong will return to his former position as DICJ technical advisor after DICJ Director Adriano Ho – himself only appointed in June 2020 following the departure of Paulo Martins Chan – signed off on the move in late December.
However, Leong has also been granted almost 18 months of unpaid leave from 25 March 2021 to 20 October 2022. No reason was given as to why Leong, who has served as DICJ Deputy Director since 2009, has requested such a lengthy leave of absence.
The DICJ has undergone a series of personnel changes in recent times, most notably the appointment of Adriano Ho seven months ago. He replaced Paulo Martins Chan, who returned to the Public Prosecutions Office after four-and-half years leading Macau’s gaming regulator.
