SkyCity Entertainment Group has announced that it will open the new AU$330 million (US$244 million) redevelopment of SkyCity Adelaide this Thursday 3 December.
The midday launch, delayed by a week following a recent COVID-19 scare in Adelaide, will see new 5-Star luxury hotel Eos, four new restaurants, two bars, conference and MICE facilities and new casino space including VIP gaming rooms unveiled.
Originally opened in 1985, SkyCity’s redevelopment represents the first major upgrade works in its 35-year history – expanding the property’s footprint while contributing to the rejuvenation of the surrounding Riverbank Precinct.
“When we designed the new SkyCity Adelaide, which includes the stunning new expansion as well as a complete refurbishment of the heritage building, front of mind was to not only cater for the tourism market by showcasing South Australian producers and suppliers, but also to provide a world-class precinct where all South Australians feel excited to visit and proud to call their own,” said SkyCity Adelaide General Manager, David Christian.
“I feel a sense of pride in what SkyCity has achieved since taking ownership 20 years ago. In just the past 12 months SkyCity Adelaide has supported more than 700 local suppliers and employed an extra 500 staff, as well as producing 1,000 construction jobs for the duration of the project.”
SkyCity Adelaide recently announced restaurants ITL and Lucky Noodle would be among the property’s new offerings, each with access to SkyCity’s 7,500 bottle master cellar.
