Genting Group heir Lim Keong Hui is taking his recently acquired Zouk nightclub brand to the company’s new US$4.3 billion Las Vegas integrated resort.

According to a report by Singapore news outlet The Straits Times, Zouk will open a nightclub and entertainment space covering 100,000 square feet at Resorts World Las Vegas when the property opens its doors in mid to late 2021.

The space will feature a Zouk nightclub plus other facilities aimed at providing 24/7 utilization including social gaming bar RedTail, which mixes standard bar style F&B offerings with games such as pool, darts and beer pong. Experiential dining concept Fuhu and an outdoor day club will also form part of the venture.

“When Genting Hong Kong acquired Zouk in 2015, it was always the plan to build this lifestyle portfolio under the Genting Group, so this partnership with Resorts World Las Vegas is the next transition,” Zouk Group CEO Andrew Li told The Straits Times.

“There’s almost 30 years of history, brand DNA and legacy with Zouk, and we can bring something special to this already quite momentous project.”

Li, previously Vice President of Genting Hong Kong, departed the troubled cruise ship operator in September after Lim – the son of Genting patriarch Lim Kok Thay and first in line to take over as Genting Group boss – purchased Zouk from Genting HK for SG$14 million (US$10.3 million).

Lim himself had stepped down as Genting HK Deputy CEO only days earlier.

Resorts World Las Vegas CEO Scott Sibella said, “From what Zouk can bring here in terms of its culture and brand of Asian hospitality, maybe we can change the way it’s programmed in Las Vegas, where the venues could see everything from a band or a DJ playing, or be used for conventions and hospitality. There will be something for everybody.”

Originally just a single nightclub in Singapore, Zouk was purchased by Genting Hong Kong in 2015 at the prompting of the junior Lim and has since grown into a diverse lifestyle group whose 17 outlets includes not only nightclubs and day lounges but restaurants and burger bars.
