MGM China Holdings Ltd has announced Bill Hornbuckle as its new Chairperson after former Executive Director and Chairperson Jim Murren officially stepped down from the role on Thursday.
Murren’s departure follows his immediate resignation as Chairman and CEO of parent company MGM Resorts earlier this week, nine months before his contract was due to expire. He had previously announced his intention to leave the role upon the expiration of his contract and appointment of a predecessor.
Hornbuckle, who was subsequently appointed Acting CEO and President of MGM Resorts, now assumes the leadership of MGM China as well, overseeing the company’s two Macau integrated resorts – MGM Macau and MGM Cotai.
MGM China has also announced the appointment of Daniel Taylor as a non-executive director, while John McManus has been re-designated as an Executive Director of the company.
Taylor, 63, was an executive of Tracinda, the private investment corporation owned by the late Kirk Kerkorian which held Kerkorian’s equity in MGM Resorts, from 2007 to 2019. He has served as a director of MGM Growth Properties LLC since April 2016. He was Senior Executive Vice President of MGM Studios from June 1998 to April 2005.
