IAG will be front and center in Sydney in August as the local gaming industry converges for Gaming, Racing and Wagering Australia and the Australasian Gaming Expo.

For the thousands of Australians plying their trade in and around the relentlessly expanding Asian gaming industry, the month of August has long held pride of place in the calendar with the annual Gaming, Racing & Wagering Australia (GRWA) conference and Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE) providing a welcome excuse to head back home.

This year represents the 10th anniversary of GRWA, first held in 2010, and just the second year since moving to the spectacular L’ Aqua at Cockle Bay Wharf – complete with expansive views over Sydney’s Darling Harbour precinct to The Star in nearby Pyrmont.

Over the course of the past decade it has built a reputation as the premiere gaming conference covering all aspects of the Australian gaming, racing and wagering industries. And although GRWA has no official links to AGE – held in the neighbouring ICC Sydney in the very same week – the two events have come to complement one another, providing visitors with valuable insight into the latest happenings both on and away from the floors of Australia’s casinos, clubs and pubs.

Set to run from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 August 2019, this year’s GRWA will dive straight into its annual Casinos, Clubs, Pubs and Gaming Day on the opening morning, covering topics such as the Australian casino industry outlook, how CSR and Responsible Gambling can make or break your business, and gaming floor innovation and strategy.

Day 2 will cover Sports Betting, Racing and Wagering including a look at the impacts of the controversial point of consumption tax recently introduced to some Australian states, wagering in eSports, the rise of social casinos, and opportunities in Australia’s Daily Fantasy Sports market.

The third and final day will focus on Innovation in Tech, Marketing and Security, exploring everything from blockchain and cryptocurrency in gaming to the role of “Big Data” in customer engagement, acquisition and retention.

Inside Asian Gaming is Lead Media Partner of GRWA in 2019, with CEO Andrew W Scott and Managing Editor Ben Blaschke both chairing and moderating various panel sessions throughout the conference. See you there!

Bigger is better

Having moved out of its former home in 2014 when the old Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) was demolished, the Australasian Gaming Expo’s return to the new ICC Sydney two years ago has seen it expand into one of the world’s largest gaming trade shows.

Celebrating its 30th year in 2019, AGE will welcome more than 6,000 unique attendees across three days from 13 to 15 August, with well over 200 exhibitors across 19,000 square metres of exhibition space. That’s a big change from the less than 100 exhibitors and 1,500 visitors in attendance when AGE debuted in a single hall of the SCEC in 1990.

Leading exhibitors this year will include the likes of Aristocrat, IGT, SG Gaming, Ainsworth, Konami, Tabcorp and Playtec.

AGE is organised by the Gaming Technologies Association, the peak representative body for Australian gaming machine technology suppliers.
