Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Chief Operating Officer for Japan Development Ted Chan, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho and Las Vegas Sands Managing Director of Global Development George Tanasijevich are among the speakers confirmed for an upcoming symposium in Tokyo to be jointly hosted by Rikkyo University and Macau University.
The symposium, scheduled for 5 to 7 July, will be called “Japanese IR as a Business Model: Challenges to regional revitalization with IR.”
In March 2019, the Japanese government made the cabinet decision on the Act on Promotion of Development of Specified Complex Tourist Facilities Areas (a government ordinance relating to the IR Development Act).
Following this, IR requirements have gradually been decided upon since 1 April. While there is still insufficient understanding in Japan of IRs as a business model, there has been much focus on the economic effects symbolized by regional revitalization.
Against this backdrop, the symposium will be a forum of discussing and evaluating business models for Japanese IRs.
