The launch of Inside Asian Gaming’s first monthly edition in Traditional Chinese, combined with the presence of Suncity Group Chairman Alvin Chau on the front cover, saw the IAG website receive more than double its average number of monthly hits in just a single day last week.
While IAG already has the widest reach of any B2B gaming industry media brand in Asia with around 150,000 hits per month, asgam.com attracted a record 347,000 hits last Thursday alone – the same day IAG sent the May 2019 Digital Edition to its 20,000-strong database and published on social media, including its 11,500 follower-strong LinkedIn account.
There were another 83,000 hits on Friday and 30,000 hits on Saturday.
The May edition was the first in IAG’s 155-issue, 15-year history to be published as a bilingual magazine in English and Chinese.
“We were previously getting around 150,000 hits per month, nearly 2 million hits per year, which is a pretty good number for a B2B news site covering a specialised industry like gaming and integrated resorts,” said IAG CEO Andrew W Scott.
“But the traffic we received on that one day, the day we released the May issue of IAG, was over two months’ traffic on a single day. We have to get used to a new normal of traffic on asgam.com.
“We believe the increase is for two reasons: first, the move into Traditional Chinese for the Chinese-reading markets in Macau and Hong Kong, and secondly because we have Mr Alvin Chau on this month’s cover. Mr Chau leads Suncity, Asia’s undisputed leading VIP gaming promoter, and is in his own right a quite famous celebrity.
“It’s simply a staggering amount of traffic. We have over half a million hits on our website so far this month, which is a bit more than we would normally receive in an entire quarter. And the two Japan conferences and G2E Asia haven’t even started yet!”
The IAG team is in Japan this week to provide extensive coverage from the 1st Japan IR Expo 2019 in Osaka and the Japan Gaming Congress in Tokyo, before returning to Macau next week for G2E Asia, including the G2E Asia Awards, which are co-organised by IAG.
IAG is Lead Media Partner of both the 1st Japan IR Expo 2019 and G2E Asia.
