Melco’s temporary Cyprus gaming facility, Cyprus Casino, has seen attendance start to accelerate in the past week, raising hopes after a sluggish start.
The comments were made by Craig Ballantyne, the Property President of Melco’s €550 million City of Dreams Mediterranean integrated resort due to open in 2021, in an interview with local newspaper the Cyprus Mail.
Over the first three weeks of operation, Cyprus Casino has welcomed more than 34,000 visitors from 41 different nations, with 6,000 of those joining the company’s rewards club.
“So far the number of visitors has exceeded our expectations and we are very gratified with the response from our guests,” Ballantyne said. “We believe the accelerating attendance rate and strong performance of new members joining the Cyprus Casinos C2 Rewards Club is driven by the strong, positive word of mouth and self-discovery by the market.”
Ballantyne added that local Cypriots had comprised the largest visitor numbers, followed by those from Greece, Israel, Romania, Russia and United Kingdom.”
Cyprus Casino covers 4,600 square meters of land including 1,300 square meters of gaming floor with 33 gaming tables and 242 slot machines.
