Nagasaki announced in late January that it received five responses to its Request for Proposal for an integrated resort to be located at Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo city. All five applicants subsequently qualified to proceed to the first selection round from 1 March. With those five now being cut to three, Current Group and One Kyushu are the two parties to have missed out. The three surviving contenders include Oshidori International Development Ltd, which recently partnered with US tribal gaming operator Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment. Casinos Austria International Japan, which has yet to publicly reveal substantial details around its bid, was one of the earliest movers in Nagasaki while NIKI Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group was the fifth and final contender to join Nagasaki’s IR race, bringing together Japan’s THE NIKI and Taiwan’s Chyau Fwu (Parkview) Group.
