Information from Macau’s Financial Services Bureau (DSF) shows that the government’s gaming tax revenue in September reached MOP$7.62 billion (US$952 million), a 6.4% month-on-month increase and up around 13.7% over the same month in 2023, when tax revenue reached MOP$6.70 billion (US$837 million).
The September tax figure correlates to Macau’s gross gaming revenues for the month of August, when GGR climbed by 6.2% month-on-month to MOP$19.8 billion (US$2.47 billion).
Between January and September of this year, gaming tax revenue reached MOP$66.4 billion (US$8.29 billion), up 45.1% year-on-year and achieving 79.4% of the government’s FY24 gaming tax estimate of MOP$83.6 billion (US$10.4 billion). This is also already more than the government collected through all of 2023.
Total government revenue for the first nine months of the year was MOP$79.9 billion (US$9.98 billion), which is 78.4% of the government’s estimated total revenue of MOP$102.3 billion (US$12.7 billion) for this year. Gaming tax accounted for 83.1% of the government’s total revenue during the nine-month period.
