Macau welcomed a total of 399,100 visitor arrivals during the three days of the New Year’s holiday, including around 175,000 on New Year’s Eve – a new post-pandemic high – according to data from the Macau Public Security Police Force.
The tally formed part of 1.94 million entries and exits to and from the SAR between 30 December 2023 and 1 January 2024, comprising both local and visitor trips.
The number of arrivals on New Year’s Eve (31 December) was 175,030, which was the highest single-day arrival figure in 2023.
The number of arrivals for the three-day New Year’s Day holiday period grew by 543% year-on-year, with only 62,000 arrivals recorded in the prior year period.
The average daily visitor arrival figure of 133,000 during the recent New Year’s Day holiday period was also 10% higher than in 2019, when the two-day holiday period attracted 241,188 visitors or just over 120,000 per day.
