The CEO of Resorts World Manila (RWM) operator Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, Kingson Sian, says the company expects double-figure GGR growth in 2019 due in part to the impending launch of new gaming space in the third quarter.
The new space, located on the second floor of RWM’s Grand Wing expansion, will cover 7,000 square meters and add an extra 100 gaming tables and 600 slot machines to Travellers’ offerings.
In an interview with The Manila Times late last week, Sian said RWM was targeting “double-digit” growth in 2019, adding “that’s the plan to sustain it. That’s why we are working hard to complete these new facilities.
“If you are in business, you always want to exceed what you’ve done in the past, so of course our aim is to always be better than the previous year. That’s why we are focused on building all of these because we want to try to focus on growth.”
RWM opened a ground floor gaming area in the Grand Wing last year, helping push the total number of gaming tables property-wide from 233 to 300 since 1Q18 and the number of EGMs from 1,321 to 1,830.
When fully operational, the Grand Wing will feature three levels of gaming, entertainment and retail spaces and three international branded hotels in Okura, which will also launch in the second half of 2019, Hilton Manila and Sheraton Manila.
Sian also revealed that Travellers will start construction on another phase of its sizeable RWM expansion later this year which will feature new office space the company hopes will be utilized by the nation’s POGO operators.
