Australian-listed Silver Heritage Group Limited has appointed Ben Watiwat as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer, replacing Basil Jong from 5 November 2018.
Jong, who helped oversee the launch of Tiger Palace Resort Bhairahawa in Nepal in late 2017, will step down “by mutual agreement with the board” but will remain with the company for three months to ensure a smooth handover.
Watiwat joins Silver Heritage from SafetyCulture, an Australian venture-backed software company where he held the position of Head of Finance and Company Secretary – leading finance, legal, facilities and compliance responsibilities across its global operations.
He previously held senior positions including Head of Group Finance at Vocus Group.
“Having worked with Ben for a number of years at Vocus, I’m delighted he has accepted this role,” said Silver Heritage’s Non-Executive Chairman James Spenceley. “Ben has significant experience and skills in capital management, compliance, risk, tax and reporting. Ben will be a significant asset for the business going forward.”
Watiwat added, “Silver Heritage has built an impressive portfolio of gaming assets across Vietnam and Nepal, including its flagship integrated resort, Tiger Palace. The business has enormous potential and I am looking forward to working with the team to capitalize on the platform they have created.”
Watiwat is the company’s second new appointment in less than a week after Michael Bassett joined the board last week, replacing Executive Director Robert Benussi.
