Melco Resorts has taken the latest step in finalizing its divorce from long-time partner Crown Resorts, announcing it is changing the name of Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corporation to Melco Resorts and Entertainment (Philippines) Corporation.
In a filing to the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission also said its stock ticker name would change from MCP to MRP. The changes will take effect on 30 May.
The latest move by Melco Resorts follows the company’s corporate rebranding in early April from Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, which also saw its NASDAQ stock ticker name change from MPEL to MLCO.
Earlier this month it was announced that Crown would sell off its remaining 11.2% share in Melco Resorts with the deal subsequently completed on 15 May. Melco Resorts Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho also told IAG that Melco Resorts would drop the Crown hotel brand from City of Dreams Macau and would likely do the same in Manila.
