MGM has joined hands with the Macau Youth Entrepreneur Association (MYEA) to co-organize the “Young Entrepreneur Seminar” at MGM Macau’s Grand Ballroom, held last week.
Mr. Lam Cheok Kao Fernando, Senior Technician of the Administrative Division of Environment and Licensing Services of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM), and Mr. Walter Yau, Head of Department of Conventions and Exhibitions and Economic Activities Development of the Macao Economic Services (MES) were invited to speak at the Seminar to give local young entrepreneurs information on the Regulations on Small-and-medium enterprise (SME) Food-and-Beverage Operator Licensing and application procedures, as well as subsidy programs available for SMEs and support for youth start-ups. The Seminar welcomed over 150 participants from local SME organizations and guests.
MYEA gathers Macau’s young entrepreneurs from all kinds of industries, including “Micro SMEs” and “Young Entrepreneurs”, key segments to MGM’s focus on local SMEs. The Association’s mission – creating business co-operation between local entrepreneurs, China and overseas markets while serving the overall development of Macau’s community – is similar to many of the measures introduced by MGM.
This Seminar marks the first-ever collaboration of the sort between MYEA and an integrated resort operator.
MGM China CEO Mr Grant Bowie said, “As an integrated resort operator with significant footprint in Macau, we have a strong focus on promoting the innovation and development of local SMEs. For us to develop the capability of local young entrepreneurs, it is not only about creating great ideas, but also having great business structures, relationship and capacity. MGM hopes to play a part in their success, and nurture local young entrepreneurs on their path to becoming sustainable businesses.
“With the belief that Macau’s great moments will be achieved by the people of Macau, we will continue to facilitate local youth with business opportunity, while supporting Macau’s economic diversification and growth in a sustainable environment.”
