The recovery of Macau’s gaming industry has been reflected in the government’s tax revenue with tax generated from gaming up 5.4% over the first two months of the year compared to 2016 levels.
The government has reported gaming tax of MOP$14.14 billion through January and February, up from MOP$13.42 last year. The 2016 figure had represented a 20.9% year-on-year fall from the first two months of 2015.
With a revenue target of MOP$71.86 billion from gaming in 2017, the MOP$14.14 billion collected in January and February represents 19.7% of expectation.
