LAS VEGAS, July 9, 2009 — Bally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, and casino-management systems for the global gaming industry, announced that it has leased approximately 77,000 sq. ft. of additional office space in Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., creating new corporate campuses to accommodate Company growth.
“The acquisition of these two leased facilities demonstrates the strength of our business despite these challenging times,” said Chief Executive Officer Richard M. Haddrill. “These leases will allow us to achieve greater teamwork and work efficiencies for our engineering teams, and accommodate further growth.”
According to Bally’s Chief Operating Officer Gavin Isaacs, the Company has added 36,000 sq. ft. of space in Las Vegas, relocating 175 game development, advanced development, and project management employees to the former Carter Burgess building at 6655 Bermuda Road.
“The property is leased over a long-term basis which, including options, spans more than 20 years. Along with a smaller building across Bermuda Road housing about 100 employees, we truly have created a Las Vegas campus environment in a great location in the Hughes Airport Industry Center five minutes from the airport,” Isaacs said. “Recent upgrades to the landscape and main lobby are being followed by remodels of our showrooms and customer conference center during the early part of fiscal 2010.”
In Reno, a new 41,000 square-foot facility at 900 Sandhill Road adjacent to Bally’s existing facility at 950 Sandhill Road will provide Bally’s 340 Reno-based employees – which consist primarily of Research & Development, customer service, product management, and various technical support and administrative personnel – with more workspace in a campus-style environment similar to the Company’s corporate campus in Las Vegas. Construction is scheduled to be completed in September 2009 on the building, which Bally also leased under a long-term agreement.
Isaacs said that the new Reno campus brings Bally’s employees who focus on Games and Systems together in a collaborative environment to more efficiently capitalize on the increasing convergence of Games and Systems in the gaming industry.
“We have had a presence in Reno for more than 20 years, and have had very positive experiences with the community and the Reno employee base,” Isaacs added. “It’s also important to provide all our employees with a quality work environment of which they can be proud.”
