The Philippines has officially exceeded its full-year target of 4.8 million international visitor arrivals.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco said this week that the nation had, as of 28 November, recorded more than 4.82 million arrivals, highlighting the rapid pace of recovery the Philippines has enjoyed over the past 12 months.
Of these, South Korea contributed the highest number of tourists with 1,275,887, representing 26.5% of the total, followed by 923,409 from the United States and 323,029 from Japan.
“This cements our position as one of the strongest pillars of the Philippine economy that employs no less than 5.35 million Filipinos in the tourism industry sector, ensuring jobs, livelihood, and the well-being of communities all over the country,” Frasco said.
The DOT is now looking to surpass 5 million foreign arrivals before the end of the year.
