Celebrating its 16th year in 2023, there are now just three days to go until the 2023 Asian Gaming Power 50 is revealed at a lavish black tie gala dinner in the Grand Ballroom at MGM Macau.
Over 300 guests representing the who’s who of Asia-Pacific gaming and Integrated Resort industries will gather from 6.30pm on Friday night, where they will be treated to a sumptuous four-course meal, world-class entertainment and the opportunity to meet with industry colleagues from across the region.
Most importantly, Inside Asian Gaming will count down this year’s Asian Gaming Power 50 – the annual list of the 50 most influential people in the industry over the past 12 months.
This year’s list is full of intrigue, with the reopening of Macau’s borders, massive growth of the Philippines gaming industry and ongoing regulatory turbulence in Australia among the contributing factors that have seen seven members of last year’s Power 50 fall off the list in 2023. The seven people coming in to replace them include six appearing in the Power 50 for the very first time.
Notably, only four people have ever held the number one ranking – STDM founder the late Stanley Ho, Genting’s Lim Kok Thay, Las Vegas Sands founder the late Sheldon Adelson and Galaxy Entertainment Group Vice Chairman Francis Lui.
Who will be number one in 2023? Can Lui overcome a growing number of challengers to make it five years in a row? Will one of the Stanley Ho clan – Melco Resorts Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho or MGM China Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho – claim the top spot once held by their father? Will Genting Group’s strong recovery in Malaysia and Singapore be enough to see Lim Kok Thay return to the summit? Or could a surprise dark horse overtake them all?
All will be revealed on Friday night as the Asian Gaming Power 50 celebrates its 16th year with the theme, “The Tiger Roars Again”.
