Australia’s Star Entertainment Group has announced an “extension and expansion” of its long-running casino systems partnership with Konami aimed at bringing the company into line with new regulatory requirements around cashless gaming and mandatory carded play.
The renewed partnership will encompass an array of technological solutions utilizing Konami’s SYNKROS casino management system, including the introduction of a cashless wagering system, mandatory card-based play, enhanced “identity management” through AI facial recognition technology, and the digitalization of existing gaming offerings.
With Star having reached an agreement with New South Wales regulators to ensure the implementation of cashless gaming within a reasonable timeframe, the company said this latest move would “entail a deeper engagement with regulatory requirements, fostering a collaborative approach to adapting to the changing regulatory landscapes in Australia.”
Laurent Fresnel, The Star Group Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, said SYNKROS “will not only provide our core cashless gaming solution but also enable The Star in delivering world-class harm minimization features. We have a long-standing technology partnership with Konami and this commitment further reinforces our shared vision of the casino of the future.”
According to Star, the casino systems partnership will also explore development of emerging, future technologies within the casino space.
