Having returned as a full-sized show for the first time in four years in Singapore in May, G2E Asia is finally back in Macau as part of a unique double-header alongside the new Asian IR Expo.

For the first time in more than four years, G2E Asia returns to Macau in July as part of a unique double-header event that will also include what organizer Reed Exhibitions (RX) is calling the Asian IR Expo.

Running from 11 to 13 July the Asian IR Expo is set to feature companies and representatives from the broader IR industry, including regional tourism boards, travel companies, Esports firms, sports media and management firms, art curators and IP owners, and various companies associated with technologies such as artificial intelligence.

The expo is a nod to the Macau SAR Government’s efforts to promote diversification of the Macau economy away from its reliance on gaming revenues. While it will run side-by-side with a more traditional G2E Asia expo, the G2E Asia component is expected to be smaller than usual given that a much larger exhibition was held in Singapore in May where the region’s leading industry suppliers all took part.

According to RX, G2E Asia in Macau will see more than 100 exhibitors take part across the two adjacent exhibitions and cover around 15,000 square meters of exhibition space.

Also returning to Macau is the G2E Asia Conference, to be managed by Inside Asian Gaming as the official Conference Organizer.

This year’s G2E Asia Conference in Macau will feature two distinct tracks: an Asian IR Expo track focusing on tourism and non-gaming topics and the G2E Asia conference track itself, focusing on topics related to the regional gaming industry.

Day 1 of the Asian IR Expo track is themed “Travel Talk and Prospects” and includes, among other featured sessions, a panel discussion from representatives of regional tourism agencies such as Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes – Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

Day 2, themed “Art and Entertainment Tourism”, incorporates presentations on art as a tourism draw and how to incorporate art into a city’s tourism strategy. Finally, Day 3 is themed “Sports tourism” and takes a look at what is needed to make a city a popular sports tourism destination.

Day 1 of the G2E Asia track, titled “Asian Market Forum”, features panel sessions on regulation, regional IR development and the new era of Macau integrated resorts, with panelists to include the likes of Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong, Hann Resorts CEO Daesik Han and MGM Resorts President of Global Development Ed Bowers.

The opening of G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore saw a number of leading industry figures, including Andrew MacDonald, Chief Casino Officer of Resorts World Sentosa, Alejandro Tengco, Chairman and CEO of Philippines regulator PAGCOR, and Bill Miller, President and CEO of the American Gaming Association (2nd, 3rd and 4th from left respectively).

Day 2, themed “Gaming Operation in the World”, explores topics such as the move from VIP to mass gaming and the application of artificial intelligence onto Asia’s gaming floors. Finally, Day 3 takes a look at Esports tourism and the importance of choosing the right venue for Esports events.

The return of G2E Asia Macau follows a successful G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore, held at Marina Bay Sands from 30 May to 1 June and representing the first full-sized industry trade show to be held in Asia since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to details released by show organizer RX, G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore attracted 4,113 visitors across the three exhibition days, as well as 505 conference delegates. Visitors came from more than 60 different countries and regions.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco was in attendance in Singapore.

As we now turn our attention to Macau, IAG will again have a full team of executives and other staff at the show, not only organizing the conference but also distributing IAG magazine, reporting directly from the floor of the show for IAG Breakfast Briefing and asgam.com, attending networking events and meeting our many industry friends and colleagues.

We look forward to seeing you there!
