The return of G2E Asia in Macau next month will see more than 100 exhibitors take part across two adjacent exhibitions covering around 15,000 square meters of exhibition space, according to organizers Reed Exhibitions (RX).
Details of the upcoming event, to be held at Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao from 11 to 13 July, were revealed at a press conference on Tuesday where RX also provided more information on the first ever Asian IR Expo. As previously reported by IAG, this year’s show – the first held in Macau in more than four years – will see two exhibitions held side by side with the traditional G2E Asia gaming show supported by the Asian IR Expo, described as a non-gaming show focused on integrated resort offerings beyond gaming.
RX said Tuesday that the Asian IR Expo and accompanying conference will explore five themes: The travel industry’s economic outlook; travel development trends to accommodate post-COVID needs; art and entertainment tourism; wellness and health tourism; and sports and Esports tourism.
G2E Asia and its conference will explore topics such as an in-depth look at Asia’s integrated resorts in terms of regulatory oversight and gaming control; future trends and challenges; the Asian gaming landscape: a decade into the future; the transition from VIP to mass and non-gaming. The IAGA Best Practices Institute will also return after a successful conference at G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore.
Je Choong Yip, Senior Vice President Commercial at Reed Exhibitions Asia-Pacific, said, “Unlike Singapore’s G2E Asia, Macau’s G2E Asia includes non-gaming elements, while Singapore’s G2E Asia was mainly about gaming.”
Asked whether the three-year pandemic in Macau has reduced the number of foreign exhibitors, Yip explained that exhibitors are thinking of how to restore their business.
“[Everyone] has recovered from the pandemic and is now concerned about their business and how to get back to 2019,” he said.
“I don’t think Macau will lag behind in terms of industry competition, but it will take some time to recover from the pandemic. We have seen this situation at many other countries’ exhibitions so it will take some time.” Yip said the scale of this year’s G2E Asia is about 50% of the 2019 edition.
