Kangwon Land, the state-run operator of South Korea’s only casino for locals gaming, has opened a liaison office in Manila with a view to growing its slot machine brand, KL Saberi.
According to a report by The Korea Times, the liaison office – located in Manila’s Entertainment City and in close proximity to the area’s integrated resort precinct – opened on 14 March.
Kangwon Land is looking to expand KL Saberi’s Southeast Asian presence and has linked with gaming product distributor RGB International to help it do so.
“In the future, our liaison office in Manila will become a hub through which KL Saberi slot machines will be exported to Southeast Asian markets and play the role of priming water to attract inbound travelers from abroad,” said Kangwon Land CEO, Lee Sam-geol.
“I expect the liaison office to be a bridgehead in Kangwon Land’s endeavor to gain ground across the world as a global casino resort complex.”
The Korea Times report says Kangwon Land has already signed two deals to supply a combined 65 KL Saberi slot machines to casinos in the Philippines and is targeting 140 machine sales across Asia within the year. Europe and the US are also on the horizon with a global target of 510 machine sales in 2027.
Kangwon Land has reportedly inked a deal with Slovenian casino management firm Advansys to provide a base for entering Europe.
