The total number of new player exclusions from Philippine casinos grew by 62% in 2022 to its highest level in four years, according to data published by gaming regulator PAGCOR.
New player exclusions totalled 333 last year, up from 206 in 2021 and the third highest on record following the 448 exclusions in 2018 and 447 in 2017.
Of the new exclusions in 2022, 176 were at the request of family members, up from 42 the year before and 157 were self-exclusions, up from 30. The increase reflects the reopening of the Philippines’ casino industry following the COVID-19 pandemic that forced multiple closures and heavy restrictions in 2020 and 2021.
PAGCOR also revealed that 598 previous exclusions expired in 2022, leaving a total of 770 existing exclusions as of 31 December 2022.
PAGCOR’s player exclusion data dates back to 2013.
