The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 19 June has reached 852, with 68 new nucleic acid test (NAT) positive cases found in the past 24 hours – a decline on the 90 cases reported on Sunday.
Of those cases, 47 were found in the community and 21 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.
As at 8am today (4 July), a total of 11,915 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 2,021 close contacts, 7,371 “non-core” close contacts, 639 “sub-close” contacts, 332 general contacts and 700 accompanying persons.
MACAU COVID-19 CASES
Two elderly people have now passed away due to the epidemic – the first time in the 2.5 years since the outbreak of COVID that someone has died in Macau due to the disease. The two deceased, aged 100 and 94, had a variety of chronic diseases, including hypertension, stroke, and brain degeneration.
Three citywide mass testings will be conducted starting this week, the times for the mass testing is July 4 to 5, July 6 to 7, and July 8 to 9. Each testing period runs for 33 hours from 9am on the first day to 6pm on the second day. Children under the age of three do not need to do the test.
