Mainland China and its two SARs might still be closed to the rest of the world, but that hasn’t stopped some businesses from joining the rest of the world in embracing recovery.
Hong Kong Airlines announced this week that it will resume flights to both South Korea and Vietnam for the first time in more than two years, with a single weekly flight to Seoul starting from 5 June 2022 and twice weekly flights to Hanoi from 6 June.
“As travel restrictions begin to relax worldwide, Hong Kong Airlines will adjust its schedule accordingly to better serve [travelers’] needs,” the company said.
“From 5 June, we will resume a weekly flight between Hong Kong and Seoul and are working on adding more flights soon.”
The resumption of flights comes after South Korea’s justice ministry announced last week that it would resume the issuance of tourist visas from 1 June.
Vietnam dropped its mandatory hotel quarantine requirement for visitors from 16 March while international arrivals no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test acquired prior to departure as of 15 May.
While travel is opening up, Hong Kong has yet to drop its own entry requirements with international arrivals required to undergo 14 days of mandatory hotel quarantine.
