The number of visitors entering Macau in April fell 23.7% year-on-year, but increased 15.2% compared with March, to 606,841 following the easing of some COVID-19 border restrictions.
According to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), April’s figures included a 59.8% year-on-year decline in overnight visitors to 180,938 while same day visitors grew by 23.7% to 425,903. This saw the average length of stay of visitors fall by 0.6 days year-on-year to 1.0 days.
Visitor arrivals from mainland China fell 26.8% year-on-year to 534,899, with 118,589 of them travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme. Visitors from the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta in the Greater Bay Area totalled 394,246, of which 66.2% came from Zhuhai.
For the first four months of 2022 combined the, number of visitor arrivals fell by 2.0% year-on-year to 2,483,688. Overnight visitors fell by 37.1% to 861,663 while same-day visitors increased by 39.4% to 1,622,025.
The average length of stay of visitors decreased by 0.5 days year-on-year to 1.2 days.
