Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued its long-awaited regulations governing international tourist arrivals, including a further easing of border restrictions.
According to the document, which simplifies processes for international visitors, those entering Vietnam will no longer require a negative COVID-19 test on arrival while all quarantine requirements for fully-vaccinated travelers have been disposed of.
Instead, tourists must obtain a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of departure from their location, must have health insurance of at least US$10,000 and must self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 10 days upon arrival.
The regulations also clarify that arrivals from 13 nations – Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus – qualify for a 15-day visa exemption. As previously reported by IAG, Vietnam’s visa-exemption program was reinstated on 15 March 2022.
The release of the Ministry’s tourism document follows criticism from the industry over a lack of clarity around COVID-19 testing requirements and whether arrivals were required to self-quarantine upon arrival.
