The Asian Poker Tour Philippines is being held from 27th January until 1st February at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Manila. More than 800 players are expected to compete for an estimated USD1 million prize pool.
International poker stars including Quinn Do, David ‘Chino’ Rheem, and Nam Le have confirmed their participation.
The organisers say the highlight of the event is the USD2,500 + USD200 No Limit Hold’em Main Event, from 29th January to 1st February. For walk-in players and those eliminated from the main tournament, a number of cash games will be running on-site.
Complementary events include a party sponsored by FHM magazine and DafaPoker, and featuring some of FHM’s female models.
On 27th January, the Asian Poker Tour Celebrity Challenge, presented by Ray Ban, FHM and JBet, will feature 20 celebrities. The Asian Poker Tour and its sponsors will be donating a minimum of 200,000 pesos to charities of the players’ choice.
On 31st January, DafaPoker, the official partner of the Asian Poker Tour, is presenting the Pot-Limit Omaha Hi tournament—said to be a first for a major Asian Tour.
Registration for the main event starts on the 27th January with a welcome ceremony and cocktails on the evening of the 28th January.
Chris Parker, CEO of the Asian Poker Tour, said: “Manila is one of the most fun cities in the world and the event will reflect this. We are delighted with our package of famous parties and the range of side action around our prestigious Main Event. This is one experience not to miss.”
Last year’s Asian Poker Tour Philippines winner, David Saab from Australia, earned USD280,000 in prize money. Coverage of this year’s Main Event will be televised and distributed internationally later in the year. Leading poker event director Matt Savage will oversee the tournament.
The Asian Poker Tour is supported by the iPoker Network, Titan, DafaPoker, PKR, PartyPoker, Everest, 888, JBet Poker, 32 Red Poker, Microgaming Network and Everleaf Network.
