Foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) saw casino sales fall to their lowest level of 2021 in November, down 25.4% year-on-year and 55.9% sequentially to KRW4.09 billion (US$3.5 million).

With South Korea now seeing its highest daily COVID-case numbers since the start of the pandemic, November’s casino sales included a 68.1% fall in table game sales to KRW2.45 billion (US$2.1 million), with slot machine sales holding steady at KRW1.64 billion (US$1.4 million).

For the first 11 months of 2021 combined, casino sales are down 57.3% year-on-year to KRW79.45 billion (US$67.3 million) with table drop down 53.3% to KRW666.84 billion (US$564.9 million). November’s table drop of KRW86.20 billion (US$73.0 million) was 19.8% higher than October, suggesting GKL played unlucky for the month.

GKL operates three casinos in South Korea – Gangnam COEX and Gangbuk Millenium Seoul Hilton in Seoul, and Seven Luck Casino Busan Lotte.
