Individuals intending to leave Macau by plane or ferry can now show a negative COVID-19 test certificate obtained with the previous seven days, relaxed from a previous 48-hour requirement.
Macau’s Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced the latest step forward on Wednesday, although officials warned that the test requirement may be dependent on the destination. People travelling from Macau to Beijing, for example, are still required to present a test result issued within 48 hours.
In addition, people intending to enter Macau by air from any mainland China city are required to present a negative COVID-19 test certificate with a validity of seven days starting from the day after the sampling date.
Rules regarding the test result required of people arriving in Zhuhai from Macau have also been updated as of 1am on Tuesday 23 November, again requiring individuals to present their certificate with a validity of seven days counting from the day after the test report is issued.
A new wave of COVID-19 spread through several cities and provinces in mainland China last month but is now under control in most parts of the country. In consideration of these developments, Macau has also removed a 14-day mandatory quarantine requirement imposed on arrivals from several districts and cities as of midnight of 24 November.
