Australia’s Casino Canberra will reopen its doors for the first time in 78 days this Friday after the ACT Government announced an easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Operator Aquis Entertainment Ltd told the ASX that casino operations would resume from midday on 29 October, having previously been suspended on 12 August due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in the nation’s capital.
“The ACT was released from lockdown at midnight on Thursday 14 October 2021, however trading restrictions remained in place, specifically a restriction to 25 patrons across the venue, which rendered Casino Canberra’s ability to trade not viable,” Aquis said.
“As at the date of this report, the ACT Government has lifted restrictions further and Casino Canberra will be reopening at noon on Friday 29 October 2021 to eased capacity constraints which will allow for effective trade.
“All staff will return as at that date and it is expected that the casino will be able to operate similar to the way it operated prior to the lockdown in August.”
Aquis said its business revenues had been strong prior to the lockdown, however the company ultimately fell to a loss of AU$742,000 (US$557,000) for the quarter.
