Sands China Ltd has honored a group of more than 180 long-serving, elderly team members as part of the company’s Golden Age Programme at a Golden Age Navigation Ceremony held at The Venetian Macao.

Introduced last year, the voluntary programme shows appreciation to elderly team members who are ready to begin a new chapter of their lives, providing them with a wide range of post-career benefits.

A total of 540 Sands China team members have signed up to date, representing 60% of all those eligible for the programme.

“Our elderly team members have made tremendous contributions to the company’s development, and some of them have served Sands China for as long as 10 or even 15 years during the prime of their lives,” said Dr Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China Ltd.

“With the Golden Age Programme, we hope to reward their devoted service as they move on with enthusiasm to the next phase of their lives. We are happy to know that they will continue to be members of the Sands China family, and I wish them a new set of successes in this fresh chapter of their journey.”

Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong.

According to Sands China, the Golden Age Programme an attractive combination of short-term, long-term and lifetime benefits to help team members navigate their post-career transitions.

The latest group of programme participants will undergo a three-month transition period, during which they will enjoy a lighter roster – with their working hours reduced by half – and a fixed work schedule. After completing the transition period, team members receive a one-time special Golden Age Fund cash reward and are entitled to 100% of their company Provident Fund. They then begin receiving a Golden Age allowance in 18 monthly instalments and get complimentary annual health check-ups for four years.

They also automatically become lifetime members of the Sands Golden Age Club, which gives them a variety of lifelong discounts and benefits on par with those of Sands China team members. These include discounts at company-owned food and beverage outlets, shops, ferries and hotels, as well as for events like concerts. They have free access to activities like leisure classes and health talks, and also benefit from Sands Cares Ambassador community outreach events, such as by receiving invitations to enjoy accompaniment to various company-sponsored events.

The July 28 Golden Age Navigation Ceremony marked the completion of the group’s transition period, and included lucky draws and a personalised souvenir – a framed photo of each team member, taken at individual photo shoots where they had their photographs taken professionally at their choice of attractions at Sands China properties. They also received a specially designed company souvenir vest.
