Authorities in Jeju have revealed they will commence direct inspections of all gaming equipment, including slot machines and electronic table games, on the island in order to ensure fairness and transparency of the industry.

The inspections follow implementation of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Casino Game Equipment Inspection Regulations last year, which saw responsibility for such inspections placed directly into the hands of Jeju Province.

Such testing had previously been conducted by the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials.

According to a report by Korea’s Newsis News Agency, Jeju purchased five types of casino game testing and inspection equipment in October 2019 and hired additional staff to conduct the tests in November 2020.

Inspections of Jeju’s eight foreigner-only casinos, of which only three are currently operational, will seek to ensure no counterfeit machines are in use and that none have been tampered with.
