Saipan casino operator Imperial Pacific International Holdings has denied reports by news agency Bloomberg that its offices were raided by US federal agents this week.
Bloomberg, which recently published an explosive article alleging widespread corruption among government officials and near zero oversight of IPI’s operations in Saipan, claimed on Wednesday that federal agents, including the FBI, raided the company’s Saipan office earlier in the week and confiscated documents.
In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Thursday, IPI insisted no such raid had taken place, stating, “Having made all reasonable inquiries, the board hereby clarifies and confirms that there was no raid by US agents on any of its offices, its casino, or buildings as erroneously reported by Bloomberg.
“Bloomberg has once again misrepresented facts about the group and the company has taken legal actions.”
