Australia’s Star Entertainment Group has announced that it will officially open its new luxury hotel at The Star Gold Coast, The Darling, on 22 March.

The 17-storey hotel is considered the jewel in crown of Star Gold Coast’s AU$850 million redevelopment, featuring just seven suites on each level plus VIP gaming, premium resort facilities and a rooftop restaurant and bar alongside an infinity edge pool.

The new private gaming room, known as Sovereign, will be located on Level 1 and offer table games including baccarat, roulette and blackjack as well almost 200 electronic gaming machines.

The date of The Darling’s opening also fulfils Star Entertainment Group’s pledge to launch before the 2018 Commonwealth Games, to be held on the Gold Coast from 4 to 15 April.

“The Darling positions The Star Gold Coast at the premium end of the market and ensures the Gold Coast has an even more compelling value proposition as we seek to compete on a global scale for domestic and international visitors,” said The Star Entertainment Group Managing Director Queensland, Geoff Hogg.

“It has been designed as a stand-alone hotel with its own arrival experience. The Darling has a distinct, boutique design and eclectic feel, while boasting the unique spirit and a stunning coastal location for which the Gold Coast is already renowned.

“Every element of the hotel is to a standard of luxury the Gold Coast has yet to experience. We’re also looking forward later this month to opening online bookings for stays at The Darling post the Commonwealth Games.”

The Darling’s 57 suites range in size from 70 square meters to 328 square meters with each level of the hotel including a luxurious northern Penthouse Suite offering the option of a third bedroom and a southern Penthouse Deluxe Suite, which offers the choice of a dedicated billiard, media or exercise room.

Designed by internationally renowned casino and integrated resorts architects Steelman Partners, The Darling also connects to recently refurbished five-star hotel The Star Grand.

Star Entertainment Group, in partnership with Chow Tai Fook and Far East Consortium, is currently investing more than AU$3 billion into Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf Development as well as additional facilities to complement The Star Gold Coast’s redevelopment, including a 53-story residential tower called The Star Residences due to open in 2021.
