The Japan IR Association (JIRA) has launched a survey to study the impact of COVID-19 on the nation’s IR development.
The survey, which will run until this Friday 17 July, aims to provide insight into the influence the coronavirus pandemic will have on all industry stakeholders.
“The impact of COVID-19 is no small matter for IR operators, consortium companies, municipalities and many other stakeholders who are trying in good faith to create an IR that is beneficial to Japan’s national interests, local economies, and local communities,” said JIRA Representative Director, Ayako Nakayama.
“I feel there are challenges about whether we can achieve the optimal Japan IR in the rapidly changing global IR industry if we continue to move forward without listening to (industry) voices.
“How should there be a Japanese IR that can also play the role of revitalizing an area while coexisting with COVID-19? How can a ‘Japan IR’ contribute to new inbound promotion policies after COVID-19?
“These are some of the questions that are becoming increasingly important as the need arises to confront these completely new issues. With the emergence of these new challenges, it is extremely important to create opportunities to understand the issues currently held by industry stakeholders.
“In the future, we envision steps to seek solutions to the issues that emerge from this questionnaire. At this stage, we are also considering sharing the issues that need to be overcome in order to achieve a better IR in Japan with many of the stakeholders involved, with a view to achieving a cooperative platform.”
The survey, which is anonymous, is available in both Japanese and English and can be accessed by clicking here.
Results of the survey will be posted on the JIRA website while full results, excluding written answers, will be emailed to everyone who responded to the survey.
