iGaming Asia Congress TURNS 10

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, iGaming Asia Congress returns to Grand Hyatt Macau from 13 to 15 March 2018, featuring an array of exciting new innovations.

THE iGaming Asia Congress will celebrate its 10th anniversary at Grand Hyatt Macau this month, cementing its status among the world’s most important and insightful conferences focusing on the growing online gaming sector.

Running from 13 to 15 March, iGA 2018 will feature an array of expert presenters and panelists providing their views of Asia’s online betting scene, supplemented with the latest insights and intelligence on business opportunities, market analysis, state-ofthe- art technology and marketing solutions for Asia’s booming online gaming market.

Among the speakers confirmed for this year’s Congress are Chief International Officer of Daily Fantasy Sports giant DraftKings, Jeffrey Haas; Chairman of the Singapore Cybersports Online Gaming Association, Nicholas Aaron Khoo; CEO of LeTou, Paul Fox; CEO of eSports Pools, Scott Burton; co-founder of Neomancer LLC and Spawn Point, Hai Ng; Founder of Internet Vikings Rickard Vikström and many more.

iGA will also feature two Keynote Speakers, with Editor in Chief of Gaming Law Review and Economics Sue Schneider to discuss, “What I would have done differently (10 years ago) if I had known what I know now” and CEO of Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) Mark Sutcliffe discussing the growing synergy between sports and sports betting in Asia.

As Sutcliffe points out, “It’s currently illegal to bet on Hong Kong football in Hong Kong and yet we know that circa HK$50 million is wagered on every Hong Kong Premier League match, roughly half on overseas internet betting sites and half through unregulated illegal markets. When you add this up over the course of a season this is a lot of money.

“The HKFA is providing the ‘product’ yet sees none of the revenue; that can’t be right. The fact that it is unregulated also means that the sport is much more vulnerable to corruption. I think a good case can be made for legalizing football betting in Hong Kong. It would make it easier to police and could also provide funds which could be used to combat corruption and/ or develop the sport. At the moment we face the worst of both worlds.”

Topics to be discussed on Day 1 of this year’s iGA include a closer look at iGaming in the ASEAN region and unlocking sports betting, eSports and DFS opportunities in Asia. Day 2 will focus on marketing solutions as well as innovation, payment solutions, big data, blockchain technology and cybersecurity, while Day 3 will include two in-depth industry workshops on Key Strategies to Successfully Drive Online Traffic and How to Stage and Market eSports Tournaments and Activate the Millennials.

Featuring for the first time at the 10th iGaming Asia Congress will be the iGA Gaming Innovation Startup Launchpad – a unique opportunity for innovators to showcase their products or services to a panel of expert judges.

The iGA Gaming Innovation Start-up Launchpad will take place on Wednesday 14 March, with the judging panel to comprise experts and investors from the gaming industry. The winning entry will receive a table-top exhibitor booth and one delegate pass to one of Beacon’s upcoming conferences of their choice – Gaming, Racing & Wagering Australia (GRWA) 2018, Asia Gaming Summit (AGS) 2018, Investment Opportunities in Asian Gaming (IOAG) 2018 or iGaming Asia Congress (iGA) 2019.
