Philippines gaming services provider PhilWeb has revealed a new corporate logo which it says reflects the company’s “renewal” under the leadership of Chairman Gregorio “Greggy” Araneta III.
The latest in a series of manoeuvers aimed at distancing itself from previous owner Roberto Ongpin – who became the face of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “war on gambling” in 2016 – the rebranding comes one month after PhilWeb’s license was returned.
The company was forced to shut down in August 2016 after President Duterte refused to renew its license to provide gambling services to Pagcor approved electronic gaming cafés, labelling Ongpin an “oligarch” that he needed to “destroy.” Ongpin subsequently sold his 53.75% stake in the company to Araneta III.
In a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange, PhilWeb said, “The new logo presents a bold clarity to PhilWeb’s identity – a provider of superior and innovative products with the highest standards of customer service.
“Rendered simply in black and red, the black palette represents the company’s deep commitment to corporate integrity and its role in Philippine society, reflecting its 17-year history of contributing to nation-building. Meanwhile, the red palette represents PhilWeb’s core values of innovation and excellence and the solutions it brings to the vibrant gaming industry.”
The company also announced a new corporate address in Makati City.
