L’Arc, the new SJM-licensed casino next door to Galaxy StarWorld Hotel & Casino on Macau peninsula, appeared to get off to a flying start on Monday despite the threat of a thunderstorm.
The bar in the VIP table area on the mezzanine level has a shiny pole extending from ceiling to floor. Next to the pole is a ceiling-to-floor temperature-controlled cabinet to store high rollers’ favourite Bordeaux and Cognac etc. Asian Gaming Intelligence understands that bar staff will on occasion perform gymnastic feats up and down the said pole to fulfil drinks orders. Sadly on the opening night the structure was not in use.
Let’s hope if the bar staff are carrying a vintage Margaux they don’t disturb the sediment.
One of the big marketing points for the developer of L’Arc, Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, is that its New World Hotel brand is widely known in Mainland China. L’Arc New World Hotel has 300 rooms, while the casino adds 142 tables and 400 slot machines to the Macau market.
StarWorld is obviously taking the competition seriously, given that at the beginning of August the operator Galaxy Entertainment Group launched its revamped mass gaming floor.
