Per-capita spending of visitors for the period was up 11.7% year-on-year and 4.6% sequentially to MOP$1,787 with spending by visitors from mainland China increasing 16.8% year-on-year to MOP$2,162. Those from Guangdong Province spent an average of MOP$1,804 – a rise of 12.4%.
Mainland visitors travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme spent MOP$2,361 per person, an increase of 5.2%, but spending by visitors from Hong Kong, Singapoe, Taiwan, Australia, the US and the UK all fell. Mainland Chinese visitors led the way in spending across the board, with overnight visitors averaging MOP$3,241 and same-day visitors MOP$845.
Visitors spent primarily on shopping (43.0%), accommodation (25.6%) and food and beverage (23.1%). Per-capita shopping spending rose by 10.7% year-on-year to MOP$768, of which spending on local food products (MO$P229) and cosmetics & perfume (MOP$191) increased by 17.8% and 18.6% respectively. By primary purpose of visit, per-capita spending of visitors coming to Macau for MICE events grew by 38.7% year-on-year to MOP$3,304, while spending of those coming for shopping (MOP$2,459) and vacation (MOP$2,444) went up by 5.4% and 1.4% respectively.
