Macau’s gross gaming revenue for the first nine days of July is a whopping 44% higher than over a similar period last year, according to the latest channel checks by brokerage Sanford C Bernstein.
GGR for 1 to 9 July is estimated at around MOP$6.8 billion at an average daily rate (ADR) of MOP$755 million. That represents a 13% increase on June’s ADR of MOP$666 million and a 44% increase over the ADR of MOP$525 million recorded between 1 to 10 July 2016.
“According to our checks, Mass [month to date] ADR increased by high single digit month-to-month while VIP ADR was up by low-mid teens,” reported Bernstein analysts Vitaly Umansky, Zhen Gong and Yang Xie.
“VIP luck factor was around the 3 to 3.1% range. Please note the first nine days of this month actually included two weekends.”
Bernstein said that, assuming a more modest ADR of between MOP$650 million to MOP$680 million through the rest of the month, July GGR would come in at somewhere between MOP$20.9 billion and MOP$21.8 billion, representing an increase of 19 to 22%.
