The Asian Poker Tour has announced that its upcoming APT Philippines event, originally scheduled to take place at Resorts World Manila (RWM) from 19 to 27 July 2017, has been moved to the Winford Hotel and Casino following the 2 June attack that has seen RWM’s gaming operations shut down.
Pagcor last week indefinitely suspended RWM’s provisional license, citing serious security lapses during the attack by Jessie Carlos which saw 38 people lose their lives. It also stated that the suspension will remain until all concerns around RWM’s security protocol are addressed.
APT Philippines will become the first event held at the recently opened Winford, which is already home to the APT’s new poker room. However, the APT said it expected its scheduled September event at RWM to go ahead as planned and reiterated their ongoing relationship.
“This latest change does not affect the previously announced APT Philippines 2017 II,” it said. “The event is confirmed to take place at RWM on 13 to 21 September for its eighth consecutive year.
“Since 2010, the Asian Poker Tour and Resorts World Manila have had a long-standing partnership that has produced fun filled high caliber events with record numbers.
“Through the years, the APT has staged a total of 19 events at RWM which includes its latest major event of the year, the APT Championships Philippines held last April.”
Winford is a new luxury property located in the Greater Chinatown area of Metro Manila.
