To promote occupational health and safety (OHS), MGM signed the “Occupational Safety and Health Charter” witnessed by the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR government (DSAL), demonstrating the Company’s commitment to securing a safe and healthy workplace for all team members who can fully focus on their own career development. On the same day, an OHS game fair was held in the back-of-house area to raise awareness among team members through interactive and educational games.
The “Occupational Safety and Health Charter” Signing Ceremony was signed by Mr Grant Bowie, CEO and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited and Mr Wilson Leong, Executive Sous Chef – Production of Food and Beverage Department with Mr Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL as the witness.
Other attending guests included Ms Lam Iok Cheong, Head of Occupational Safety and Health Department of DSAL, Ms Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, Mr Mike Holubowskyj, Senior Vice President of Security & Safety of MGM as well as nearly 100 Golden Lion Team members. Mr Bowie said, “The ‘Occupational Safety and Health Charter’ is an important pledge an employer makes to its employees, and MGM remains dedicated to building a safe and healthy workplace for all team members. As we expand our Golden Lion Team with the opening of MGM Cotai, we will continue to promote a positive health and safety culture with the support of DSAL, increasing team members’ awareness on OHS as well as implementing safety measures effectively to avoid accidents. It is our true belief that team members will only shine and make great moments for our guests well in a safe workplace.”
MGM places high importance on OHS culture not only for protecting its team members, but also to boost productivity and facilitate team cohesion. Every team member and contractor is required to attend OHS trainings and specific departments such as Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Engineering, as well as Gaming Operations, have their advanced tailor-made programs, so that they can identify and control potential hazards in their workplace, and as a result, lowering the risks of occupational injury, sickness, or asset damage. An OHS game fair was also held on the signing date offering interactive and educational games and DSAL also participated and managed one of the game booths.
