Macau’s visitor arrivals over the four day Easter holidays from 14 to 17 April rose by 5.6% year-on-year to 427,000 according to figures from the Public Security Police Force.
It included 384,000 from Greater China – up by 5.1% from 2016 – including a 6.5% rise in visitors from the mainland and 4.1% increase from Hong Kong.
Taiwan was one of the few markets that saw visitor arrivals fall, down by 10.3%, while visitors from all other markets surged 10.9%.
Analysts this week predicted that Macau’s April GGR would enjoy a year-on-year increase of between 13 and 15%, with brokerage Sanford C Bernstein adding that the Average Daily Rate over the seven days from 10 to 16 April was MOP$721 million – up from MOP$650 million for the first nine days of the month.
