Macau’s Judiciary Police are investigating the suspected murder of a mainland Chinese man found dead in a Cotai Strip hotel room.

The man, aged 41, was reportedly discovered by cleaners at Conrad Macao at Sands Cotai Central on Sunday and had suffered multiple knife wounds according to a report by local Macau media outlet TDM.

A Judiciary Police report stated that the man was known to regularly gamble in Macau, however exactly what led to the incident that caused his death is not yet known.

In a statement, Sands Cotai Central operator Sands China said, “We offer our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased at this difficult time.

“The wellbeing, safety and security of our guests are of paramount importance, and hotel management is cooperating fully with the local authorities in their ongoing investigation.”
