SBC Events has confirmed it will stick with its later than usual 2026 dates but will return to an earlier September time slot in 2027 for its flagship annual event, SBC Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.
The group announced during its 2025 event, which ran from 16 to 18 September, that next year’s SBC Summit would be pushed back two weeks to avoid clashing with a major Jewish holiday. It has since been revealed that Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas will be held a week earlier than usual, meaning the two shows will take place at the same time.
In a statement, SBC said it was important that it sticks with its announced dates to ensure the industry enjoys predictable planning and relief from scheduling bottlenecks.
“Clarity and predictability, at least when it comes to dates, are vital. Our partners deserve to plan ahead without uncertainty,” said Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC. “By setting our dates well in advance, we ensured that everyone could organize their year efficiently and contributed to a well-balanced industry event calendar.
“Our focus has always been on serving the industry, not competing with it,” Sojmark added. “Consistency in scheduling reflects that mindset. When organizers align around a clear, predictable calendar, everyone benefits, from exhibitors and sponsors to delegates who can make the most of every event they wish to attend.”
SBC Summit moved from Barcelona to Lisbon in 2024 and this year reported that 76.6% of its over 30,000 attendees were first-time attendees and 57.5% new companies.
While next year’s event has moved to the end of the month, SBC said its 2027 SBC Summit will move closer to its usual mid-month timing – scheduled to take place from 21 to 23 September.
