Australian slot machine provider Ainsworth Game Technology (AGT) has announced the resignation of its CEO, Harald Neumann, with immediate effect after the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) last week opted against renewing his license in the state.
In a filing, AGT said it would undertake a comprehensive search process for a permanent replacement, with both external and internal candidates being considered. Ryan Comstock, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, will step into the role on an interim basis, also effective immediately.
AGT had confirmed late last week that it was reviewing Neumann’s position after the NGCB recommended he withdraw his application for license renewal in the state.

This comes after Australian media outlets were recently alerted to an ongoing investigation into Neumann in his home country of Austria in relation to alleged bribery and illicit political funding during his time as CEO of Austrian gaming giant Novomatic. Neumann has denied the allegations.
Interim CEO Comstock, meanwhile, brings stability to the role, having joined AGT in 2012 and being promoted to COO in 2018. The company noted that Comstock has previously held various global positions focused on finance, manufacturing, hardware and software development, compliance, information technology and operations. Prior to joining AGT he spent nearly a decade within Deloitte’s audit and assurance practice where he served Gaming, Manufacturing and Technology Companies.
Comstock’s remuneration will remain unchanged until the company can complete an “expeditious review” to agree any new compensation arrangements for the additional responsibilities under his interim role.
