SJM Resorts will terminate the operations of one of its satellite casinos, Casino Grandview, this Wednesday 30 July, the company has announced, explaining that the earlier than expected closure was related to internal business planning and commercial considerations.
Gaming tables currently located at the venue will be reallocated to other properties under the company’s umbrella to “continue serving our valued customers”, it said.
SJM explained that customers holding chips, deposits or cash rebates accumulated at Casino Grandview and which remain unredeemed after Wednesday’s closure may visit the cage at Casino Casa Real to arrange follow-up handling from 31 July 2025 onwards.
“The company will ensure that all customer entitlements are duly honored,” it said.
In regard to displaced staff, SJM added that it “places strong emphasis on safeguarding local employment. All local employees employed by SJM will remain employed and be reassigned to other casinos of SJM to undertake gaming-related roles according to operational needs.
“Local employees working at Casino Grandview who are not employed by SJM will be invited to apply for related vacancies within the Group with priority in hiring in equal circumstances, and will be provided with the necessary support, depending on the actual situation, to facilitate a smooth transition.”
Casino Grandview has 159 employees working under SJM and seven employees hired directly by the casino itself. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) stated that it will continue to maintain close communication with the Labour Affairs Bureau to ensure that SJM strictly fulfils its workforce commitments.
The closure of Casino Grandview comes after SJM revealed in early June that it would cease satellite operations at its nine existing satellite casinos by the end of the year, although it is looking to acquire Ponte 16 and L’Arc as self-owned casinos.
Melco Resorts also revealed that it would cease operations at Grand Dragon Casino by the end of the year, while Galaxy Entertainment Group will similarly wind down its only satellite operation at Waldo.
